Dr. Kay Colley spoke at the Texas Wesleyan University spring commencement ceremonies as the 2011 Earl Brown Distinguished Faculty Member. The award goes each year to a Wesleyan faculty member for outstanding teaching, scholarship and service. The faculty selects the recipients. Colley is an assistant professor of communication and the director of student media at the university. She also is a board member of IABC Fort Worth and a member of Greater Fort Worth PRSA and Fort Worth SPJ. ...

Greater Fort Worth PRSA members Andrea Scott and Linda Jacobson, APR, received a 2011 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for designing and implementing an interactive intranet to convey information about positive train control to BNSF Railway employees. ...

Eliana Mijangos, a junior mass communication major at Texas Wesleyan University and sports editor for The Rambler (also sports anchor on RamblerTV), was accepted to one of this summer’s Freedom Forum Diversity Institutes. The American Indian Journalism Institute, hosted and funded by the University of South Dakota and its Al Neuharth Media Center, is a nationally competitive program designed to prepare college journalism students for a career in new media. Mijangos will take a concentrated college-level course in multimedia journalism taught by journalism professors and professionals. At the end of the institute, which runs June 15-24, she will be eligible for a six-week newsroom internship.
