Eighty revelers, the lady barkeep and two beef slingers from Wilson’s Barbecue made it a grand time in December at Coors Distributing Co. for the Christmas party/county hospital book benefit. Fun by the numbers: $813 net cash  collected for the JPS readers library, books valued at $2,155, $219 in magazines.

PEOPLE & PLACES

Senior mass communication major Jonathan Resendez, multimedia editor of The Rambler at Texas Wesleyan University, was selected for the Buster Haas 2011 Minority Internship Program. Resendez will work 10 weeks this summer at a Texas newspaper under 30,000 circulation and receive a $3,000 stipend, $1,000 for living expenses and, upon completion of the internship, a $500 scholarship. The program, sponsored by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association, is named for the late Buster Haas, a Dallas Morning News assistant managing editor for 32 years. ...
